The declaration was signed in the framework of a conference aimed at discussing “the cities facing the challenges of terrorism”.
On the 28th, 29th and 30th September 2017, more than twenty Mediterranean cities, represented by their respective mayors, gathered in Nice, France, to sign the “Nice Declaration” against terrorism.
The event, that had the participation of the French Minister of Interior Mr. Gérard Collombe and the European Commissioner Mr. Julian King, was held by the city of Nice with the support of the Euro-Mediterranean Cities Network, EFUS – The European Forum for Urban Security, and PRACTICIES Partnership against Radicalisation in the Prisons.
Mr. Pedro das Neves and Ms. Marina Soares participated in the event on behalf of IPS_innovative Prison Systems, an active member of the PRACTICIES partnership.
PRACTICIES mobilizes networks of European cities and experts to better understand the human roots of violent radicalisation and to characterize these processes starting by their origins and to build concrete tools and prevention practices. This transnational project relies on the cooperation of experience in the field of urban security in cities and expertise of national structures to fight terrorism (partners from different countries involving Government and law enforcement agencies, municipalities, research institutions and private organizations).
