The 23rd Council of Europe Conference of Directors of Prison and Probation Services (CDPPS) took place on the 19th and 20th of June 2018, in Johvi, Estonia.
The 23rd Council of Europe Conference of Directors of Prison and Probation Services (CDPPS) has taken place in Jõhvi, Estonia on 19-20 June 2018 and was hosted by the Estonian Prison Service, the headquarters of which are situated there. It was open to invited participants only who are high-ranking representatives of the prison and probation services of the member and observer States to the Council of Europe, international organisations, as well as renowned experts and researchers working in the field of execution of penal sanctions and measures.
The delegation of participants from Portugal included Mr. Celso Manata, Director General, Directorate-General of Reintegration and Prison Services, Ms. Isabel Antunes, Deputy General Director, Mr. Pedro das Neves on behalf of IPS_Innovative Prison Systems and of the BSAFE LAB Law Enforcement Justice and Public Safety Lab of Beira Interior University.
More than 130 participants attended the Conference. There were plenary sessions and workshops which dealt with issues related to leadership and management models; lessons learnt from the privatisation of services; capacities and workloads; interchangeability/complementarity of staff and professional ethics.
The Council of Europe Annual Conference of Prison and Probation Directors (CDPPS) was preceded by the 7th EuroPris Annual General Meeting.
