Correctional Directors discuss staff selection, training and development

The 22nd Council of Europe Conference of Directors of Prison and Probation Services (CDPPS), 20-21 June 2017, Lillestrøm (Norway) was hosted by the Directorate of the Norwegian Correctional Service.

Like every year it brought together high-ranking representatives of the prison and probation services of the member and observer States to the Council of Europe, international organisations, as well as renowned experts and researchers working in the penitentiary field.

Pedro das Neves, CEO of IPS was present at the event. The theme of this year’s Conference was “Staff selection, training and development in the 21st century”.

The Conference was held at the premises of the University College at the Norwegian Correctional Service which provided the participants with the unique opportunity to benefit from useful practical exchanges of experience regarding attracting, recruiting and ensuring career advancement of well-trained staff. Staff who are capable of providing supervision and treatment of offenders adapted to their successful social (re)integration into today’s society.
